Suarez : I never thought I’d play in a clasico
The Uruguay star made his first la liga debut last year October in a 3-1 defeat to league rivals real madrid in the el clasico at Santiago Bernabue.
Ahead of the return match encounter, Luis Suarez says he is still getting used to the fact that he is set to become a Clasico regular.
“I never imagined that I’d play in a game of this magnitude,” he told the club website, adding that this time he hopes for a better result.
“I was focused on my nervousness about coming back to play. Aside from it being a Clasico, it was important for me. I didn’t enjoy it as you should enjoy a Clasico, let’s hope I can do it this time.”
Following a stuttering start to his time in Spain, Suarez has now scored seven Liga goals and four to help Barcelona into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
“I’m happy and I feel like I’m really helping the team, something that makes me a lot calmer,” the attacker said.
“There was a time that I was very hard on myself, not just because I wasn’t scoring goals but also because I felt like I wasn’t helping the team, something that worried me. I always knew that the goals would come.”
Luis Suarez believes sunday’s clasico match will produce a different result from the first leg and he is well prepared to give his maximum best to help his team win.
