Reports: ‘African Xavi’ On Barca’s Wishlist

According to AS, the Catalan giants have accelerated their pursuit of Nice midfielder, Jean Michael Seri and considering triggering the player’s release clause.

Publications in Spain have dubbed the Ivory Coast international as the ‘African Xavi’, following his impressive displays for Nice in the last two seasons.

Barcelona have only made two signings in the transfer window, but the club are reportedly ready to splash €40 million a Ligue 1 star, who has been dubbed the ‘African Xavi’.

Barca made an initial bid of €30 million, which is believed to be have been rejected, although the Spanish giants are confident that a compromise can be found.

Barca were previously interested in Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti, who was seen as a long-term replacement for Xavi but the player has decided to remain in France.

The 26-year-old made 36 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, as Nice finished the season in third spot, securing Champions League spot.
