Derek boateng, derek, boatengGhanaian Midfielder Derek Boateng has finally announced his retirement from International football after a decade of service for his country.

Boateng, who is a free agent after terminating his contract with Spanish club Eibar, admits his time with Ghana Black Stars is over.

Derek Boateng is now 32 years old and has not been called up since playing at the AFCON 2013 in South Africa where the Black Stars finished fourth.

“To be honest with you, I need to step aside for the young players that are coming,” Derek told the Graphic Sports.

“The young players are doing well. They are very active and playing good football, we need to support them as old players. We need to pray for them so that they can bring something good to the society and country because once they win, we all win as well.”

Derek Boateng was one of the stars at the 2001 FIFA Under-20 World Youth Championship in Argentina where Ghana won silver.
