Coach Avram Grant wants Black Stars bonus issue resolved
The coach of the senior national team Avram Grant is pleading with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to find an immediate solution to the team’s outstanding winning bonuses in other to motivate his troops for the big task ahead of them.
Ghana Black stars will face Comoros Islands in Moroni this Friday in the first leg encounter of the World Cup Qualification campaign.
In an interview with Joy Sports today, it was disclosed that the team have not been paid their bonuses for their last to AFCON Qualifiers against Mauritius and Rwanda.
Earlier on this week, the captain of the senior national team Asamoah Gyan voiced publicly about his displeasure on the on going initiative under taken by the Football Association to slash their bonuses by 50%.
“I dont think this development will help us because there wasnt any consensus between both parties. We are professionals and we should be treated as such.” Asamoah Gyan said
Honourable Mustapha Ahmed, Sports minister announced at the FA’s Ordinary Congress on Tuesday that he wish to hold a meeting with the FA and the Black Stars team to discuss the imminent reduction of the winning bonus.
Head Coach Avram Grant, who is tasked with the Objectives of qualifying the team to the 2018 World Cup as well as to win the 2017 AFCON ,wants the authorities to quickly resolve this issue.
“One of the reasons why i was employed was to make new standards after what happened at the recent World Cup so all I want is measures must be put in place to ensure we do that without any difficulty,” said Grant
“Let’s face the facts. The fact is that this team after I arrived here has always given 100% commitment. The result are good, we need to be professional off the pitch and I hope they will find a solution for this.
“I’m not here to blame anybody, I want to find a solution, and my way is a solution so I hope they will find a solution to this issue.”
